Looks like the competition will be called off yet another day. They’ve got lots of water… just not where they need it: in the ocean!

Not only is the surf small at Pipeline, (only running about 2 feet), but they’ve also got lousy weather conditions, including LOTS of rain. The State of Hawaii has issued a flood watch and during the past 72 hours more than two feet of rain has fallen in some areas. Oahu is bracing for a heavy band of showers crossing the channel between Maui and Molokai later today.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings…

After almost 2 days of competition the Monster Energy Pipeline Pro, sponsored by Billabong, was put on hold again this morning.

A junky NE windswell blew in overnight, replacing the small but nicely shaped NW swell of the last 2 days. The latest swell forecast isn’t looking good for this weekend so organizers are hoping they can conclude the contest early next week

A little more than one full day of competition remains and the event has until the end of Wednesday, February 6, to conclude.
