If you wanted to feel energized or were involved in sports, you’d probably look for foods rich in carbs to help your performance. The advice given by coaches, fitness trainers and books on nutrition was to eat more carbs if you wanted to perform well in your chosen sport. As high protein diets gained in popularity, however, carbs became the one thing athletes and dieters alike feared more than anything else. The notion that carbs are not healthy and should be avoided is, of course, an oversimplification at best. The healthiest way to eat is a low carb diet where you consume a small number of high quality carbohydrates, rather than those from processed foods. A healthy low carb diet is quite simple to plan. You should check out the cheese you like to see if a low carb cheese is, or if it is actually free of carbs, before you decide to eat it. When you are eating cheese, you should pick kinds that are not processed, or you will simply be trading carbohydrates for high amounts of oil and fat.

We all love food like tacos, burritos, etc. Tortillas, however, are a starchy food that’s usually made from processed flour, unless you go out of your way to buy a healthier variety. Why not eat a burrito-less burrito, which is really what you get when you order something like chili con carne, and leave out the carbs? This is sort of like ordering a sandwich without the bread, only these foods are so spicy and flavorful that it’s likely you won’t even miss the tortilla. Doing this might be trickier for quesadillas, but you can either eliminate this food or only make it an occasional treat.
To eat a smaller amount of carbohydrates on a regular basis, there are many different ways to do it. If you want to lose weight the healthy way, don’t eliminate all carbohydrates. Choosing a low-carbohydrate diet is the best option. You need to avoid foods that contribute to health problems, such as bad carbs, and continue eating foods that are good for you, such as good carbs.
