Actor Speaks Out About Skin Cancer

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Eric Dane, who plays Dr. Mark Sloan, aka Dr. McSteamy, spoke with OK! Magazine about his recent experience with skin cancer. Dane told OK! that he went to see his dermatologist, who alerted him to the “malignant tissue caused by sun damage.”

After treatments involving liquid nitrogen, 35 year old Dane is pointing out the need to be vigilant about proper skin care and UV protection: “This is probably something that happened so long ago, but you passed the point of no return with this stuff … I wasn’t so vigilant then, I am now. And I think everybody should be.”

As we all know skin cancer is caused by cumulative damage from the sun that starts in childhood. That carefree summer you spent getting burned while you were at scout camp could become skin cancer later on.

Guilt Used in Latest New Zealand Sunburn Campaign

The Health Sponsorship Council in New Zealand is using guilt in their latest ad campaign to remind parents of their responsibility to protect their children’s health.
